Casa de Cello is a family-run business dedicated to the winemaking in its estates for 4 generations. One of our estates, Quinta de Sanjoanne is located in Mancelos near Amarante, where currently 14ha of vineyards are managed with the varieties Arinto, Alvarinho, Malvasia Fina, Loureiro, Avesso and Trajadura. Along the plots of vineyards, we uncover small forests, water dams, ponds and old fountains. In the surroundings you can also visit the 12th-century Monastery of Mancelos, one of the most recognized buildings of Romanesque architecture in the region.

Our winery was designed in an old building where cereals were kept during winter time but it has all the technology for the vinification and aging of our wines. Alongside the winery we find a 19th century farmhouse built in granite with an elegant colonnaded terrace that overlooks the garden and vineyards.

The granite goes far beyond the buildings and is also present in the vineyards’ soils providing Quinta de Sanjoanne’s wines well balanced minerality and acidity. These characteristics allow our wines to age beautifully making them great options for your personal cellar at home.

As an independent winegrower, Casa de Cello only makes wines with its own grapes, controlling all stages of the process, from the vineyard to the finished bottles. Quinta de Sanjoanne is certified in sustainable farming, producing healthy and quality grapes to ensure the genuine expression of its terroirs.
