To visit the Bacalhôa Palace is to discover a privileged landscape with a historical framework that began with the founders of the Avis Dynasty. The architecture, decoration and gardens of the Palace have been influenced over the centuries by the different owners, inspired by their travels through Europe, Africa and the Orient, contributing to transform it into a unique jewel. Over time the Palace has been embellished with 15th and 16th century Portuguese glazed tiles evoking Moorish designs and with a Moorish designs and with a lake house. From inside to outside, you can see unique pieces from the private art collection, through the gardens and vineyards to the lake house where we can find the first dated tile in Portugal.
