Quinta da Fonte Souto is located in the sub-region of Portalegre, on the slopes of the Serra de São Mamede. Acquired by Symington in 2017, it had to be something very special for the family to take their first steps outside of the Douro.

The tour starts with a presentation about Symington and all the background to the project. We then go on to visit some of the most emblematic spaces such as the Adega Centenária, a cellar used to produce “Talha” wines; the old canteen, where the meals for all the workers used to be prepared when the Quinta was still used for farming; the Portalegre house and the Douro house, two spaces created to pay tribute both to the work being done in this region of the Alto Alentejo, and to the origins and all the history coming from the Douro; finally, the manor house from the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century.

This is followed by a tour of the vineyard, where it is possible to contemplate the different grape varieties present on the property, as well as other factors that give the wine its unique characteristics. Finally, it is possible to pass by our events room and barrel warehouse.

This visit includes two different wine tasting options: the Classic Tasting, consisting of two entry level wines, Florão White and Florão Red, and one wine from our intermediate range, Quinta da Fonte Souto Red; and the Premium Tasting, consisting of our two entry level wines Florão White and Red, two intermediate level wines, Quinta da Fonte Souto White and Red, and our top wine, Vinha do Souto.
Our aim at Fonte Souto is to produce a distinctive collection of wines that represent the best of Portalegre, the Alentejo and Portugal.
